Quick and light torrijas recipe
Easter is approaching, time to enjoy our traditional Spanish recipe of torrijas. But the problem, common in these days, is the lack of time to elaborate such a meticulous and laborious recipe, which is usually left in the hands of our veteran mothers or grandmothers, who in addition to time, have a better hand for cooking...
Well, with this recipe that I propose, there is no more excuse! light and quick torrijas recipe and clean to elaborate them, as they do not need to be fried because they are made in the oven, so it also has the advantage of being more “light”, if possible?
Here are the ingredients and how to make them: try them! you won't regret it!
INGREDIENTS:
- 150 grams of special bread for torrijas or brioche bread or sliced bread
- 2 dl of cream + 2 dl of milk
- 30 gr white sugar
- 1 egg + 1 yolk
- 1 tablespoon Brandy or Cognac
- Brown sugar to taste
- Cinnamon powder
- Optional: vanilla ice cream to accompany them.
THE WAY IN WHICH THEY ARE PREPARED:
Cut the bread into slices, if they are brioche in half and if they are sliced bread, remove the crusts and cut them in half as well. Put the slices in a baking dish.
Beat the cream, milk, eggs, brandy, white sugar and a pinch of cinnamon powder. Pour it into the baking dish evenly over all the slices.
We put it in the oven at 160ºC (preheated) for a couple of minutes (we will see that the liquid has soaked completely). We take it out and sprinkle enough brown sugar on top and put it back in the oven for about 7 minutes and at the end a touch of grill until it caramelizes a little.
They are served hot or warm with vanilla ice cream, and since it is still strawberry season, it is a perfect combination!
I hope you like them! Happy Easter!
