HARVEST FESTIVAL

Last Saturday we were invited to participate in the Grape Harvest Festival in the vineyards of Hacienda Zorita, an ideal and charming hotel on the banks of the Tormes River.

It was an unforgettable day, a unique experience that, personally, I recommend living it at least once in a lifetime.

We love to drink wine, yes, but do we really know the long and laborious process of making it?

It is nice to see with your own eyes a vineyard filled with bunches of grapes , It is very fun to learn how to cut the grapes well, and even more, to do it as fast as possible to pick as many kilos as possible, because the team with the most grapes will be the winner! It is a lot of fun to learn how to cut the grapes well, and even more, to do it as fast as possible to get as many kilos as possible, because the team that harvests the most will be the winner!

On a sunny day and surrounded by beautiful vineyards, to the sound of music and with a country table full of abundant and delicious appetizers, both adults and children had a good time harvesting.

Nowadays, the process is mechanized, but in the past, it was The grapes were trodden to obtain the must, which would then pass to the tanks for fermentation. What an incredible sensation to feel under your feet thousands of kilos of grapes, to feel the explosion of the grapes between your toes and the coldness of the must, what a delicious massage... the children were jumping for joy, others passed by cautiously, as if they were afraid of spoiling the grapes.

After the grape harvest, a great feast awaited us: a spectacular setting: a large buffet with a beautiful decoration, and with a large quantity and variety of typical products of the land, Salamanca, The barbecue is a great barbecue with meat from their farm, such as buffalo hamburgers, Iberian feather and secret, and of course, the Castilian lamb ,,,,, and of course, accompanied with excellent wines from their own cellar, a marvel!

The atmosphere was very pleasant, all the guests in harmony, joyful and happy to share this experience. We laughed, made friends and danced to the sound of the Flamenco group and at the end, surprise! The Tuna of Salamanca came to delight us with his joyful songs.

This is an example of how such a little-known task can become an important didactic, recreational, competitive or team-building activity, and can be transformed into a great party to appreciate this wonderful profession that gives us excellent wines in Spain. A way to praise the work of winemakers, winemakers, winemakers, and all participants in the winemaking process.
