Last week we visited the fantastic Salón de Gourmets, which was held in Madrid from March 10 to 13.
During our visit we found new and interesting products, we tasted new and fantastic wines, cheeses, and oils among others, and of course, we appreciated the new products.
We add new cooking tips and recipes in your showcookings. And something that surprised us: the piece of black truffle of half a kilo ... a real treasure...
I could start commenting on everything we discovered and tasted, but it would be too long and tedious a post, so I will only mention what we liked the most or what we found curious.
First, not in order of priority, but to start with our ”favorites”, we loved the sales from Añaza, which are produced in the salt mines of the same name in Álava. They are sheets of crunchy texture combined with the best flavors of the Mediterranean diet to give a particular touch to each dish. They offer them with green or black olives, garlic, cayenne, tomato, wine, fine herbs,,,, endless to choose the one that best combines with your favorite dishes ... In addition, we discovered that you can take guided tours to the salt mines. Soon we will inform you about “the gastronomic route of salt”.” for a visit to these salt mines, where the interesting production process is explained and the original salts from the purest springs are tasted.

The extra virgin olive oils from Claramunt. We were surprised by the design of their bottles: elegant, original and very “made in Spain”, evoking some of our famous painters like Joan Miró. We also discovered in this house an almost unknown olive variety in Spain: The Frantoio, with which they get a delicious oil, with a bitter almond and banana sensation in its aroma, in the mouth a slight touch of bitterness and a more intense spiciness, remaining an aroma-flavor of nuts.
Cheeses... a whole world ... there were hundreds ... let's mention those of the Zamora Cheese Factory, with awards such as the Broze world cheese award in 2013 for the semi goat and aged sheep.
And not to leave aside the wonderful Spanish wines, we find a family winery, with DO Ribera del Duero and more than 200 years old! El Cillar de Silos, fantastic wines that age in its subway cellar... They offer tours!
And if you want to be accompanied by one of our professionals to learn more and better about Spanish products, you can't miss it!, contact us and we will be happy to guide you in your search for our culinary treasures.
