Dessert Christmas tree, pear in puff pastry with dark chocolate

For me, this dessert Christmas tree, pear in puff pastry with dark chocolate  and accompanied by ice cream, is the dessert ten, for its delicious, easy and spectacular presentation. In addition, it is a way to include fruit without leaving aside the Christmas nougat and chocolate that always triumphs.

INGREDIENTS: ( 4 persons)Dessert Christmas tree, pear in puff pastry with dark chocolate
  • 4 pears (not too ripe and not too hard)
  • 1 sheet of butter puff pastry
  • 1 egg
  • Powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 100 gr dark fondant or dessert chocolate (minimum 55%)
  • 20 gr of butter
  • Bread crumbs
  • Optional: nougat or vanilla ice cream
STEP BY STEP RECIPE:
  1. Preheat oven to 200ºc. Heat up and down and with fan.
  2. Cut the puff pastry into thin strips, about 1 cm thick (Tip: take it out of the refrigerator when you are going to cut it, otherwise the puff pastry becomes very soft).
  3. Peel the pears leaving the stalk, and cut the base a little so that the pear can sit well on a platter without falling off.
  4. Pour bread crumbs on a plate and coat the pears. This will prevent the moisture from the pears from softening the puff pastry.
  5. Wrap the pears with the puff pastry strips. Start at the base and make a spiral, pressing lightly so that it does not fall, until you reach the tail. If you have a strip left over, cut it off.Dessert Christmas tree, pear in puff pastry with dark chocolate
  6. Beat the egg and with the help of a kitchen brush paint them. This will help to make them more golden brown.
  7. Put them in a baking dish, and bake for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown. If you see that they turn brown very quickly, turn the oven down to 160º C. As I always say, every oven is different!
  8. Meanwhile, chop the chocolate and put it in a bowl with the butter. Put it in the microwave at medium power, so it doesn't burn, for one minute. Remove and stir to finish melting. If there are still pieces left, put it back in for half a minute and repeat the operation until it is completely liquid.
  9. In another bowl mix the powdered sugar with the cinnamon.
  10. Take them out and sprinkle with a little of the powdered sugar and cinnamon mixture. Serve warm or cold, but always with the hot chocolate, which you will put in a suitable container, to serve at the table to the diner's taste on top of the pear, and accompanied by a scoop of ice cream, vanilla or nougat, because it's Christmas!
