And the truth is that I am happy because the result is ideal, do you like it? I hope you like it and I hope that you will be encouraged to make it, it is very entertaining, and if you do it with your children or kids, even more!

In addition, I leave you the templates for this cinnamon gingerbread cookie house (click to download) so that you can print them and you will only have to cut them out!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

INGREDIENTS:
  • 100 gr of butter
  • 150 gr of brown sugar or panela
  • 1 egg
  • 425 gr flour
  • 100 gr honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ginger ground
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon ground
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
INGREDIENTS for the royal icing:
  • 1 egg white at room temperature
  • a few drops of lemon
  • 250 gr of powdered or impalpable sugar
STEP BY STEP RECIPE:
  1. To make this beautiful cinnamon gingerbread cookie house
irst we make the dough. To do this, beat the butter with the sugar until creamy, then add the egg and vanilla and beat again. Finally add the honey and beat.
  2. In another bowl mix all the dry ingredients and add to the previous mixture little by little, and stir with a spatula. Each time it will be thicker and thicker and when we can not stir any more, we do it with our hands, integrating the flour well into the dough and making a uniform dough. We make a couple of small balls, flatten a little with the palm of the hand and wrap them in plastic wrap. Set aside for at least two hours. I made it the day before. Then to work with it, you will have to wait a long time to be able to manipulate it because it is very hard (it all depends on the room temperature).
  3. Now we make the royal icing, which will be used to decorate the whole house, the snow, the roof, the figurines, the borders, etc. With a stick blender we beat the egg white until it thickens, then we add the sugar, little by little, spoon by spoon and a few drops of lemon juice. The Glasé will be ready when it does not shine and forms peaks upwards when the whisk is raised.Cinnamon and gingerbread cookie house
  4. Now it's time to roll out the dough with a rolling pin. I sprinkle the rolling pin and the surface a little and stretch the dough about half a centimeter thick. I use the templates to make the pieces of the house. Click on this link and print two copies. ginger-cinnamon-cracker-cookie-home-template
  5. I place them on top of the dough and with a cutter or knife I cut them. If you have leftover dough edges, I put them back together, knead and stretch to use it all. I also had some tree and doll molds, with which I made the figures you see in the photos. I also make a super circular cookie that will be the base for the house.Cinnamon and gingerbread cookie house
  6. Bake at 180ºc for about 12 minutes the small ones, and about 15 minutes the big ones (base, roof...) you have to see that they are golden brown. Take them out and let them cool.
  7. When they are completely cool, decorate them. With the Glasé we are going to put a little in a bowl with a teaspoon of water and stir well, so that it is not so thick. Fill a piping bag and with a fine hole mouth, I make the details of the house (edges of the window and door, eyes and buttons of the dolls, the tree, etc.). Cinnamon and gingerbread cookie house
  8. Then with the Glasé that we have made, which is quite thick, we are going to glue the doors of the windows. Look at the photo, I put some napkins underneath to hold the weight and not fall. I let it dry for about 10 minutes. Then I use the glaze (I continue with the thick one) to glue the walls with the front and then the ceiling (which I will have to hold with my hands until it dries, unless you find an object with the same height to hold them underneath). Then I glue the door so that it is open. And now we are going to make some snow stalactites on the front of the house, falling from the roof.Cinnamon and gingerbread cookie house
  9. We are now going to make a more fluid royal icing. If before for the decoration we have put a spoonful, now let's put two spoonfuls. In any case it is to see and have a little eye to see if it is too liquid or not. I propose that you do a test first and then use it at home. This will help us to make the snow on the roof, which if we did not do it this way, it would not make the effect of falling.
  10. Finally, on a plate, put some thick icing, and place the round cookie as a base, which will stay firm on the plate when it dries. And now with the glaze more cinnamon gingerbread cookie houseliquid, fill the entire cookie, place the house, the doll, the tree and the pebbles on top, and ready¡¡¡¡.

This cinnamon gingerbread cookie house It is a great effort that with care and enthusiasm, has its reward. I find it an ideal way to spend the afternoon with my daughters who collaborate and help me as much as they can. It's a lot of fun and, if you are embarrassed to eat the house, it is a very cute decoration for Christmas!
